I am excited to have finished stein-sum, my first microtonal piece, which makes extensive use of overtone spectra. I wrote it for the renowned Amsterdam based specialists of Trio Scordatura (Alfrun Schmidt, Elisabeth Smalt, Keiko Shichijo who will play the keyboard for Bob Gilmore who commissioned the piece) who will play it for the first time on February 1 in Hamburg's Kampnagelfabrik alongside pieces by Harry Partch, James Tenney, and others. The concert starts at 7.30pm and will be repeated exactly one week later, on Friday 08/02, in Cologne's St Peter.

Hessischer Rundfunk/hr2 Kultur were running in a serendipitous atmosphere. ensemble mosaik was excellently prepared - as always -, and the recording staff in Frankfurt was very cooperative and competent. So this really felt like felicitous days among friends! We are all looking forward to the CD and to the third portrait concert on Dec 16 in Berlin's Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt! These were the wonderful musicians of ensemble mosaik (Berlin): Bettina Junge - flutes, Christian Vogel - clarinets, Chatschatur Kanajan - violin, Mathis Mayr - violoncello, Ernst Surberg - piano, Roland Neffe – percussion, Franka Herwig - accordion. The following pieces of mine were performed and recorded: nearly – fast (2008) für Bassklarinette, Marimbaphon und Klavier data compression (2009) für Violine und Akkordeon fein ... auflösend (2010-11, UA) für Flöte, Klarinette, Violoncello und Klavier, Kompositionsauftrag der Kunststiftung NRW schönes klavierstück (2006) dietro V avanti (2006/7) für Flöte, Klarinette, Violine, Violoncello, Vibraphon und Klavier Wednesday, 25 May 2011, Alte Feuerwache, 50670 Köln/Cologne, Melchiorstr. 3, 8pm Thursday, 26 May 2011, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Künste Frankfurt, Kleiner Konzertsaal, Eschersheimer Landstraße 29-39, 60322 Frankfurt am Main, 8pm The CD will appear at Coviello Contemporary later this year. Stefan Fricke and Rainer Nonnenmann were conducting talks with me in the intervals of the concerts. Concerts and CD are only possible because of the generous support by Kunststiftung NRW and Kulturamt Köln - Musikreferat. |
